911 - World Trade Center (USA)

1) New York City has 11 letters

2) Afghanistan has 11 letters.

3) Ramsin Yuseb (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) has 11 letters.

4) George W Bush has 11 letters.

This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting:

1) New York is the 11th state.

2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number 11.

3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11

4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers. 6 + 5 = 11

5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11

6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11.

Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind:

1) The total number of victims inside all the hi-jacked planes was 254. 2 + 5 + 4 = 11.

2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year. Again 2 + 5 + 4 = 11.

3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11.

4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers incident.

Now this is where things get totally eerie:

The most recognised symbol for the US, after the Stars & Stripes, is the Eagle. The following verse is taken from the Quran, the Islamic holy book:

"For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace."

That verse is number 9.11 of the Quran.

Still uncovinced about all of this..?! Try this and see how you feel afterwards, it made my hair stand on end: SERIOUSLY DO THIS -- Open Microsoft Word and do the following:

1. Type in capitals Q33 NY. This is the flight number of the first plane to hit one of the Twin Towers.

2. Highlight the Q33 NY.

3. Change the font size to 48.

4. Change the actual font to the WINGDINGS

Kay, this is freaking creepy.

Do this consider as supernatural?? :sweating: :shut:

Mystery of Okiku's Well Ghost

There are three types of ghost in Japan: obake, youkai and yuurei. Obake literally means “transforming thing” and it can be used to generally refer to anything weird or grotesque. Yokai literally means “bewitching apparition” and they include monsters, goblins and ghouls. Unlike yuurei, which are souls of the dead and “downright scary”, yokai are comical, bizarre and michievous in some way.

Yuurei, is the soul(reikon) of someone wandering around seeking revenge. This is because the person died either by murder, slain in battle, suicide, or the person hasn’t been given an appropriate funeral.

Often said to be haunted by the ghost of Okiku. She is supposed to rise from the well at night and count to nine before shrieking and returning to the well. The ghost story of Okiku, an unfortunate servant maid, is one of the best known and was transformed into a Kabuki play and numerous novels.

Some stories, however, locate the haunted well in the Canadian embassy in Tokyo's garden.

There are different versions of the ghost story of Okiku. What they all have in common is the description of her ghost coming out of the well and counting from one to nine and then breaking out into a heart-rendering sobbing.

In another version, Okiku really breaks a plate and is killed by her master and her corpse is thrown into the well.

In yet another version, it is the wife of Aoyama, who breaks the plate. To hide her guilt, she throws the broken plate into the well and accuses Okiku of having it stolen. In this version she is also killed by her master for punishment and thrown into the well.

There is also an alternate version for the end of the story. To stop the nightly sobbing, a friend of the family of Aoyama is hired. He is hiding at the well during the night and after Okiku had counted from one to nine, he is stepping forward shouting loudly "ten". From then on the ghost of Okiku was never seen again.

In Japanese culture, ghosts take on many different forms. Yuurei are ghosts whose deaths came about so suddenly that they did not have time to make their peace, either because they were murdered or committed suicide rashly (defeated warriors in Japan were often forced to commit suicide). This is the tale of a woman who was so deeply wronged in life that, after more than four hundred years, her soul remains hostage to the agony of the betrayal that killed her. Himeji Castle is an imposing wooden structure, extremely well preserved despite its age. It stands on an elevated position in the center of town of Himeji, thirty miles west of Kobe. The castle's earliest origins are in the early fourteenth century, but it is in the seventeenth century, at a time when the local Shogun government commissioned the tower to be built to its five-story height, that this story is set. At the foot of the tower, known as the Donjon, and located next to the Hara-kiri Maru (the Suicide Gate), where people were forced to commit ritual disembowelment stands the castle well. Its proximity to the gate is no mere coincidence; it was not a source of drinking water, but a means of washing away the blood of a hara-kiri suicide. Today it is known as Okiku's Well.

The story also forms the basis for a number of books and movies. Most notably the story is also the inspiration for the 1998 Japanese horror mystery film, Ring (リング Ringu) adapted from the novel of the same name.

Thai Ghosts and Spirits Nang Naak

There is no Thai who does not know Mae Naak. While mentioning her can make young children run and scream hysterically in the "Nang Naak game", mothers invoke Mae Naak's name to quiet their crying infants; otherwise, the ghost might break their necks and eat their heads with chilly sauce. The gothic tale of Mae Naak Phra Khanong has been filmed more than twenty times; moreover, every one of them is a box-office hit. Thai youths grow up watching her ghostly tale on television.

Whether Nang Naak was a real person or just a fabrication is still as mysterious as the myth itself. There is no historical evidence of her existence. However, most Thais tend to believe her story is genuine, or at least some parts are. Popular legend tells that she was born in the Phra Khanong area of Bangkok about a hundred and thirty years ago during the later period of King Rama IV (1851 - 1868) and died of childbirth complications some eighteen years later in the early part of King Rama V's regime (1868 - 1910). Others assume that she lived during the reign of King Rama III (1841 - 1851). Some believers even date her presence back to more than two hundred years ago in mid-eighteen century Ayutthaya.

Likewise, the detailed background of Nang Naak also varies from one tale to another, from being an ordinary farm girl to the daughter of the village chief. Nonetheless, her doomed fate and horrible deed stay the same. It begins as a love story. A teenage girl named Naak falls deeply in love with a handsome young man, Nai Maak. Some sources state that the couple are childhood lovers who grow up together, while another version take on the more tragic flavor of "Romeo and Juliet" in which their romance is opposed by Nang Naak's wealthy and powerful father, for Maak is of poorer and lower origin. No matter how harsh or smooth the situation is, they eventually manage to be together. Shortly after they get married, Nai Maak is conscripted for military service, involuntarily leaving his pregnant bride behind with tear and fear. The dutiful wife waits for her lover's return
, but that day never comes in her lifetime. Haplessly, Nang Naak dies during labor along with her unborn child. Although they are buried instantly according to local tradition, her strong spirit refuses to perish. When Nai Maak comes back from the war, the ghost of Nang Naak disguises herself and her "infant son" as humans. Their uncanny reunion is sweet but brief. Despite her arduous effort to blind Nai Maak to reality, Nang Naak cannot prevent him from learning the truth of her death. The revelation itself provides one of the most memorable scenes in the story when Maak sees his wife grotesquely stretching her arm through the floorboard of their elevated house to pick up a fallen lime, or a knife in another version, on the ground.

The supernatural romance then transforms into a macabre horror. The terrified husband runs away, and the scary ghost follows. There are many gory accounts of how Nang Naak chases, harasses, and even kills whoever comes between Maak and her. In order to get rid of the gruesome spirit, the villagers resort to all the possible religious means including exorcist and voodoo shaman, which soon prove to be futile. Another rendition states that Maak remarries after the death of Nang Naak. The jealous ghost is enraged, and she terrorizes the new couple along with the miserable community. In all versions, Maak finally takes refugee in the Mahabute temple. Defying the monks, Nang Naak persists and pursues. At last, a gifted young novice from far away comes to the village and rests her tormented soul. Certain versions claim it is the venerated Somdej Phra Puttajan from Thonburi who seizes the fierce spirit, whereas some editions combine the two together as the heroes. In all cases, the Buddhist representative imprisons Nang Naak in a ceramic pot and drops it in the river. In some of the renditions, the skull of Nang Naak is made into a belt buckle by the monk, which passes into the possession of the Prince of Chumporn and then disappears. Maak nevertheless, becomes a monk in some versions, and in others, he begins a new family and lives happily ever after. Yet this otherworldly saga of love and revenge does not end there. Numerous stories about Mae Naak's reappearances are widely and frequently spread, from Bangkok to Pattani, casting her in many roles from being a guiding angel to an enraged ghost.

Ghost Stories Haunting Thailand's Tsunami Zones

BANGKOK, Thailand -- Many Thais believe ghosts are wandering tsunami-hit beaches, spooking taxi drivers, making the Andaman Sea hungry for more victims, and jinxing an economic recovery for devastated resorts.

Fish sellers and seafood restaurants are suffering a severe downturn in business along the west coast because many Thais are refusing to eat fish, amid fears that sea creatures may have nibbled human corpses swept out to sea.

"Foreign tourists will come back to Khao Lak, but many Thais and Chinese will not want to go there because so many people died, and so many ghosts are there," said Somchai, a taxi driver, as he drove along Phuket's sleek, undamaged highways.

"Thai and Chinese investors, maybe they will not want to buy property or help rebuild those resorts, because those places are bad luck," he said.

Most of Thailand's 5,300 dead perished at Khao Lak, and many have still not been identified.
About half of the total deaths were thought to be foreign tourists who were enjoying the swank resorts in Phang Nga province, just north of Phuket island.

The others were Thais who lived and worked along the gorgeous stretch of tropical beaches.

Thais and foreigners, however, are fueling ghost stories by retelling rumors and hearsay.

"Did you hear the one about the taxi driver, who picked up passengers who turned out to be ghosts?"

That question, spread through conversations, e-mail and the Thai media, has become an urban legend in Thailand.

Most versions of the tale describe an unidentified Thai taxi driver who picks up a "foreign tourist" and his Thai girlfriend, for a taxi ride to Phuket's airport or elsewhere.

When the taxi arrives at the destination, the driver turns around and freaks out when he sees the passengers have already disappeared.

One foreign wag, who heard the story too many times, said it was "rude" for the ghosts to shock a hard-working taxi driver, but even ruder for them to depart without paying.

Many Thais who hear the story, don't laugh, because they are extremely fearful of ghosts.

A Thai volunteer, unloading corpses recovered from the tsunami, became rattled when he placed dry ice on a dead baby to keep the cadaver cool in the tropical heat, and the tiny body suddenly made a moaning sound.

"I'm sorry!" the volunteer exclaimed, nervously asking the dead baby for forgiveness.

"We finally calmed him down, and explained that it was common for gases, when exiting corpses, to strike the vocal cords," wrote a Belgian doctor, Yves Wana, in a published description of his work at the morgue in Wat Yarn Yao, a Buddhist temple in Phang Nga province.

Throughout Thailand, most perceived hauntings and poltergeist events are believed to be caused by people who suffered "violent deaths" -- which poses a big problem for superstitious Thais pondering the horror and brutality of the tsunamis.

"If the ghost has no family here, maybe they won't come back," said Pawn, a shopkeeper who said she was not too worried about ghosts from the tsunami, though she "heard" ghosts several years ago after one of her relatives died.

About 95 percent of Thailand's population is Buddhist, and the atheist doctrine teaches that all people are repeatedly reincarnated, regardless of their religion.

Each time a person dies, their spirit spends an unspecified amount of time as a conscious ghost seeking rebirth.

As a result, Buddhist monks traditionally chant special prayers to dead spirits, urging them to stop wandering the places where they died, and to detach themselves from loved ones -- so the living can enjoy peace, and the dead can be reborn.

Many Thais also integrate pre-Buddhist, animist beliefs into their perception of the world, and construct doll house-sized "spirit houses" in and around their homes and offices where they make daily offerings of food, water and prayer in exchange for protection from any unseen beings who choose to dwell there.

On Tuesday (Jan. 18), 99 Buddhist monks sat in saffron-colored robes and chanted prayers for the dead near the gently lapping waves along devastated Patong Beach on Phuket, while residents sat in the sand and prayed with them.

The number nine is considered very lucky in Thailand, and 99 would be doubly-auspicious.

The Patong Beach ceremonies include a week-long vegetarian diet by Buddhist residents wearing white clothes for the duration, to display their purity and non-violent ideals.

Ethnic Chinese performed a traditional burning of paper items for the dead, including faux money, cars, clothing, houses, jewelry and other symbolic things -- all made of colorful paper and thin sticks -- so deceased ancestors and others could get much-needed provisions in the next world.

Buddhist monks, along with Christian and Muslim religious leaders, also held an official mourning ceremony attended by thousands of people on Jan. 5 in a Phuket sports stadium, which included an evening of Buddhist chants for those who lost their lives.

Local fisherman on Phuket's Rawai beach, meanwhile, decided to increase their safety by "feeding the sea" more often, so it would not be hungry again and swallow more people.

Rawai fisherman traditionally pour coconut milk, sugar, bananas, fish and boiled rice into the Andaman Sea every August, in a sunset ritual meant to appease sea spirits which might want to devour fishermen or swimmers.

When the tsunamis hit Phuket on Dec. 26, the fishermen who survived began to worry that their annual buffet was not satiating the sea, and promised to do the ceremony more often.

Thai psychiatrists and other health workers often endorse such rituals to help bring security and peace of mind to believers, and prevent them from committing suicide during depression while mourning.

Some Buddhist monks and others, however, warn that Thais often become obsessed with superstitions, allowing themselves to be manipulated by imaginary projections -- and unscrupulous fortune tellers who cash in on their fears.

Scavengers and garbage collectors clearing 7,000 tons of debris off Phi Phi Island, meanwhile, said they were blocked from dumping the rubble at a site on neighboring Lanta Island because villagers were afraid of disease and demons.

"All 5,000 villagers from 10 villages in this sub-district were opposed to the move, believing the debris brought along not only dust and cement, but also diseases and wandering spirits of the dead," reported the Bangkok Post on Tuesday (Jan. 18).

"We've tried to serve the government policy of clearing away the tsunami debris as soon as possible. But now there's this problem about where to find a suitable place to bury the wreckage," said Krit Benyasarth, manager of Taninrat Co., which was contracted to help clear Phi Phi Island.

Thais are not the only ones who believe supernatural forces are active after the tsunamis.

"According to a seer we consulted, Jakub Dosoudil is still alive," wrote Tomas Roubik, who has posted a 100,000 U.S. dollar reward to anyone who finds Mr. Dosoudil, or his travelling companion Ms. Michaela Berankova, alive.

The two Czech citizens disappeared when tsunamis swept over tiny Phi Phi Island, the public notice said.

But Mr. Dosoudil survived, according to "psychotronic specialists" who visualized him.

"He is stranded on an island and trapped in a cave. He can drink water from the roof of the cave [and] is critically injured," the notice said, describing the purported psychics' revelation about the blonde, green-eyed, Czech man.

Haunted Changi movie

In January of 2010, a group of local filmmakers began exploring the famously haunted Old Changi Hospital in Singapore with terrifying and tragic results. This movie pieces together the original Haunted Changi film crew’s footage to tell the full story of what happened.

The Hospital: What also adds to the authentic charm of Haunted Changi is the background on Changi Hospital – a real place known as Old Changi Hospital or OCH to Singaporeans.

After some research, I discovered the following facts:

OCH was originally built as a British military barracks in the 1930s and is actually considered to be one of the most haunted places in the world.

The Japanese military, who gained control of the island in a 1942 WWII battle known as “The Battle of Singapore,” used OCH as their headquarters from 1942-1945 and there were many rumors of secret tunnels, torture chambers and executions of POWs conducted on the grounds.

In the 1950s, the former military flashpoint was turned into a public hospital and officially named Changi Hospital.

The Singapore government shut down operations at Old Changi Hospital in 1997 and it has since been abandoned.

Framed by jungle overgrowth, the creepy old building, while ominous in the daytime, is flat-out terrifying at night. And Haunted Changi is at its best and scariest when the crew is wandering the halls of the cavernous rundown hospital – it’s hard to imagine Hollywood creating a better haunted house set than OCH.

Haunted Changi is a movie that takes its time to build momentum, but like Paranormal Activity, we are never bored. And the film’s disarming first act beautifully set ups the tension-filled second act, which features some unforgettable frightening moments.

True Singapore Ghost Story

This is a real story spread among Singapore taxi drivers. It was about 7.30 pm in Chinese New Year's eve. Taxi driver Ah Tan, a 60-year-old man, lived in Bedok Reservoir Rd, was rushing back home to celebrate the family dinner.

He happened to pass by a remote path somewhere near Punggol. That used to be a farm village but has been deserted for a few years. There were altogether four bus-stops along the roadside.

While he was driving along the path, he saw a young lady at the bus-stop flagging for his taxi. At first, he wanted to take the lady but he was going to be late for his dinner. Being a person particular for punctuality, he decided not to take this customer. Then he carried on driving. To his surprise, there was another lady flagging him down. This time he felt familiar because she was wearing a red T-shirt and black skirt but due to fading light, he could not see her face.

When he passed by the third bus-stop, he felt a bit of horror as another lady was flagging him again, in the same red and black clothes! How would a lady moves faster than the wheels? The distance between two stops is about 0.8 KM away! This time, he really felt horrible and stepped the accelerator harder. When passing the fourth one, a lady charged at his car!
He was driving at least at the speed of 100 KM/H! The lady flew over his vehicle and dropped inside a drain next to the bus-stop. Ah Tan cried out due to extremely horror! The victim once again in red and black clothes. Ah Tan felt so bad and had no mood celebrating New Year.

Finally, he decided to report to the police. The body in red and black skirt was found, it was a young Chinese lady aged between 20 to 25 year old. Ah Tan's horror got attested. The lady's cause of death is not by car accident but stabbed by sharp object! She had been dead for about three days, the body already started to decay.

After the police statement, Ah Tan thought of the whole things had been over. Of course the police snickered at his initial statement and made him do another 'credible' one.

One week later, Ah Tan's horrible feeling had lessen. What a coincidence, he striked first prize 4-D for his taxi number plate. He won a big sum of money, he was so delighted in this, but unfortunately he fell down in the bath room and fractured his right arm. He was admitted to Changi hospital.

In the hospital, he started to have nightmare night after night. A young lady, in red and black skirt, kept calling him "Ah Peh, li di si lo lai?"(Uncle, when are you coming down?). He really cannot tolerate to it anymore.

Moreover, the inflammation started on his wound. Luckily, one of his friend who is a Taoist priest suggested to give up his stake's money instead of plead for 'safety'. He told Ah Tan that the lady ghost is gnawed by serious grievances and has become a ferocious spirit.

Since she could not avenge the murderer due to some reasons, Ah Tan chosen to be the 'scapegoat' for her rebirth'. The 4D winning stake is to exchange for his life!

After a battle of mind, the lady still disturbed him in the meanwhile, with a shattered nerves he decided to give up his $100,000 to The Charity Community Chest. Strange enough, he recovered from the illness rapidly.

Everything seemed to be over, but a short period after his discharged, his wife striked 4-D again, the stake amount is also $100,000! This is because, one day, his wife went market and bought some vegetable, she saw the wrapper was the used newspaper which reported the young lady's murder case. Strangely, there was four numbers on it, and his wife bet on and striked. After a fierce argument between them, Ah Tan failed to convince his wife to donate the money. A deep worry began to burden Ah Tan when his wife started puzzle head and like to put on red T-shirt and black skirt. She seemed to go mad and the temper got hotter and hotter. One morning, she suddenly told Ah Tan that the life is meaningless'. This time Ah Tan was decisive, he gave up all the money immediately. He brought his wife to the temple and asked the monks to release the young lady's souls from purgatory.

After this incident, he stop buying 4-D or involves in all kinds of gambling. Not long ago, he'd also gave up his taxi-license.

Haunted Ria Apartment, Genting Highlands

What was supposed to be a happy holiday turned out to be a nightmare to a friend of mine, Sheryn, when something unexpected happened to she and another 2 girlfriend of hers. Planning to enjoy the cool breezy hilltop resort, they planned out to travel with a group of friends. What they didn’t know was their choice of accomodation, Ria Apartment, Genting Highlands was haunted.

It started out when a group of them planned for a stumptuous dinner at thier rented apartment. So it turned out that a group of them went out to enjoy the breeze, another group of males planned to checkout the whole resort and as for Sheryn and another 2 of her girlfriends, they decided to be the chefs and stayed back to cook the dinner.

All was fun at the kitchen when she and her friends gathered to prepare the ingrediants when suddenly they hear noises from the living room. The noises were really loud and sounded like people enjoying themselves with a game of mahjong. Sheryn could hear people talking loudly and calling out the game’s card and thought that her group of friends were back from their short walk. She then get a glimpse of the living room to see who was back and asked them to help out instead.

As soon as she stepped out of the kitchen, the noises mysteriously stopped. To her astonishment, there wasn’t a single soul. Curious that she might hear things wrongly (although she was positively sure she heard the noises), she walked back into the kitchen wondering. Again, the noises started as mysteriously as it stopped. Her 2 girlfriends looked as frightened as she was when they realized that the apartment was haunted

Quickly, she and her girlfriends decided to stop cooking and hang out at the living room instead. All the 3 girls were still very much afraid when the walked into the living room. Because they were so scared of hearing the mysterious noises again, one of her friends suggested to turn the radio on.

The 3 of them walked towards the radio when all of a sudden Sheryn heard someone from behind calling her “Wui!”. Automatically, Sheryn turned her head to have a look at who was that and yet, there was no one except her 2 other friends who were too busy meddling with the radio’s switches.

Author’s Note : Sheryn never told me what really happened after that but I personally stayed in the apartment before and there’s always a creepie feeling about the whole location
